On the radio: ‘Heroes Reborn’ and super powers

About a month ago I began doing a guest spot Fridays on WGN Radio’s “Bill and Wendy Show.” Bill Leff, Wendy Snyder and I discuss TV topics and sometimes other things—like if your super power were to fly, you might have to worry about bugs or birds smacking up against your grill.

My segments begin about 11:05 a.m. Fridays at 720 AM on your radio dial, er, digital screen. If you can’t make it to the radio, I’ll post them on my site. You also can listen to them at the Bill and Wendy page on WGN’s site.

We sometimes take reader/listener questions, so feel free to call or text during the show using this number: 312-981-7200. No heckling, please. You also can post your questions in the comments section of this and future stories about my radio spots.

So back to super powers. Last week I attended the world premiere of “Heroes Reborn” in Toronto. The 13-episode series picks up five years after the events of the original “Heroes” series, which ran from 2006-2010 on NBC. It begins with a two-hour premiere at 7 p.m. Sept. 24 on NBC.

My trip ignited our discussion about super powers we’d want. I went with my X-Men namesake despite the different spelling, Kurt Wagner, aka Nightcrawler. I believe teleportation could be very useful to me. Anyway, you can hear our discussion in the audio at the top of this post.

While talking about “Heroes Reborn,” I neglected to mention some of the actors from the previous series who are reprising their roles. They include Jack Coleman as Noah Bennet, Masi Oka as Hiro Nakamura, Sendhil Ramamurthy as Mohinde Suresh, Jimmy Jean-Louis as the Haitian, Greg Grunberg as Matt Parkman, Noah Gray-Cabey as Micah Sanders and Cristine Rose as Angela Petrelli.

New to the show are Zachary Levi, Ryan Guzman, Judith Shekoni, Francesca Eastwood, Robbie Kay, Gatlin Green, Kiki Sukezane, Henry Zebrowski, Rya Kihlstedt and many others.

I’ll have more from Toronto and about “Heroes Reborn” later.

I’ll post my Bill and Wendy segment here each Friday or Saturday after my radio appearances. You can listen to my previous appearances at the Bill and Wendy Show page if you so desire.
