Kim Burgess takes another step in her transition to detective in the next episode of Chicago P.D. when she works with her first criminal informant. Here’s a preview of the episode.
In “Confidential,” airing Jan. 10 on NBC, the Intelligence Unit tries to track down a ruthless pimp who is mining a women’s shelter for women to work in his prostitution ring.
Through a series of confidential tips, Burgess (Marina Squerciati) moves the case forward but risks putting her informant in harm’s way.
During One Chicago Day interviews in October, Squerciati joked that her character often makes mistakes while working a case.
“I feel like whenever they’re in the writers room and they’re like, ‘Who’s going to screw up this episode?’ They’re like, ‘Burgess.’” she said. “Constantly; every episode.”
It appears Burgess didn’t screw up this time. In the scene (below) from the episode, she learns that her instincts about her informant were correct.
Upton (Tracy Spiridakos) and Burgess are called to a crime scene where someone connected to Burgess’s informant has been killed. The uniformed officers and Upton suggest that no one believed the informant, but this brutal murder proves the information was accurate.
Gail Bean, Travis A. Knight and Andhy Mendez guest star in the episode. Jason Beghe, Jon Seda, Jesse Lee Soffer, Patrick John Flueger, Elias Koteas, LaRoyce Hawkins and Amy Morton also star.
The “Confidential” episode of “Chicago P.D.” airs at 10/9c on NBC.
