All roads lead to Wentworth prison in the latest episode of “Outlander” on Starz, which is appropriately titled “Wentworth Prison.”
Claire Fraser (Caitriona Balfe), Murtagh Fitzgibbons (Duncan Lacroix) and the other Highlanders finally reach the prison to rescue Jamie Fraser (Sam Heughan), but so does Jamie’s No. 2 fan, Black Jack Randall (Tobias Menzies).
I say No. 2 fan because, despite all that has happened (and is about to happen), I believe Black Jack’s sadistic boner for Jamie shrivels in comparison to the enormous amount of love Claire has for her husband. I’m hoping everything works out for the besieged couple. (Claire and Jamie, that is—not Black Jack and Jamie.)
As Claire and company hatch a rescue plan, Jamie and Taran MacQuarrie (Douglas Henshall) watch as their fellow prisoners get their necks stretched by the hangman’s noose.
These final two episodes will be anything but pleasant as Jamie awaits his execution—and an unwanted reunion with the reviled redcoat. Whether Black Jack is gay or just gets off on dominating anyone, he possesses an evil that makes Ramsay Bolton (Iwan Rheon) of “Game of Thrones” look like a puppy.
“I haven’t even begun,” Black Jack says to Jamie in “Wentworth Prison,” airing at 8 p.m. May 16 on Starz. If that’s the case, Jamie’s in for a real struggle.
That’s what showrunner Ron Moore suggested to Zap2It, saying that his actors were “fearless” in their performances in the final two episodes of the season.
“The last two episodes really go to some dark places, some deep psychological places,” he told the site. “When all is said and done and it’s put together, it’s a harrowing journey.”
The season finale will air at 8 p.m. May 30 on Starz.
But I’m getting ahead of myself. Watch the teases for “Wentworth Prison” below.
