The third season of Star Wars Rebels will premiere Sept. 24 on Disney XD. Lucasfilms on Monday released a teaser for the hour-long episode titled “Steps into Shadow.”
As previously reported, the new season will introduce new characters as crew members of the Ghost become movers and shakers in the rebellion. Grand Admiral Thrawn (voiced by Lars Mikkelsen) and Bendu (Tom Baker) stand among the new additions.
According to a Disney XD and Lucasfilm release, the new season opens with the Ghost crew working from a secret base on Atollon. Led by a more powerful Ezra, the crew strengthens the rebel fleet by acquiring new resources and recruits eager to stand against the Empire. However, the Imperial efforts to eliminate the rebellion are now being led by Grand Admiral Thrawn. The coldly analytical soldier’s strategic, tactical and cultural insights make him a threat unlike any they have faced. Also in Season 3, Ezra and Sabine take on new roles and challenges as the rebels prepare for their biggest mission yet—a direct assault on the Empire.
Ghost crew members Ezra (voiced by Taylor Gray) and Sabine (Tiya Sircar) appear in the Season 3 key art. The “Star Wars Rebels” art also depicts Grand Admiral Thrawn and Darth Maul (Sam Witwer).
Freddie Prinze Jr. returns as Kanan, while Vanessa Marshall is Hera and Steve Blum is Zeb. Dee Bradley Baker voices Captain Rex, Captain Gregor and Commander Wolffe. David Oyelowo voices Agent Kallus.
Dave Filoni, Simon Kinberg and Carrie Beck created “Star Wars Rebels.” Filoni and Kinberg executive produce the Lucasfilm Animation production. Henry Gilroy serves as co-executive producer.
Season 3 of “Star Wars Rebels” debuts at 8:30/7:30c Sept. 24 on Disney XD. Season 2 will be available on Blu-ray and DVD beginning Aug. 30.
