Aziz Ansari in ‘Master of None’: 1st look

Aziz Ansari returns to series television with his Netflix series “Master of None,” and the streaming service has released a first-look photo of Ansari and Noel Well.

Former “Parks and Recreation” star Ansari plays 30-year-old actor Dev in the comedy, which will premiere all 10 episodes of its first season on Nov. 6.

Ansari stars, writes and directs “Master of None,” which he has loosely based on his own life experiences. The show follows New Yorker Dev as he ponders all manner of issues—ageism, sex, relationships, racism and what’s for dinner.

“Dev has trouble deciding what he wants to eat, much less the pathway for the rest of his life,” Netflix says in a release.

Although “Master of None” is loosely based on his life, Ansari did cast his real parents as Dev’s parents, he tells People magazine.

“There’s not a ton of older Indian people that are out there in the acting game, so I wrote these characters kind of based on my parents, and I couldn’t find anyone who really felt like my parents, so I just got my parents to do it,” Ansari told People. “They did a fantastic job.”

The show was created by Ansari and Alan Yang, who also serve as executive producers with Michael Schur, Dave Becky, and David Miner.
